Who We Are
The mission of our church comes from two key scriptures. We desire through our love for others to point people to the love of Jesus.
1. The Two Greatest Commandments: Love God and Love People. Matthew 22:36-40
2. The Great Commission: “Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’” Matthew 28:19-20

What We Believe
1. About the Bible: We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, divinely inspired; that it is inerrant in the original manuscripts and preserved by God for us; that it is authoritative for this church and each of us for every age.
2. About God: We believe that God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These Three are one God. We believe God created the universe by His Power and His Word. We believe that God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever-present.
3. About Jesus Christ: We believe Jesus Christ was sent by God the Father into the world to save sinners. We believe that Jesus Christ was virgin born, sinless in life, and mighty in words and deeds. We believe Jesus Christ was both God and man, that He was crucified for our sins, and was bodily raised from the dead. He then ascended to His Father's side where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers. We believe Jesus Christ is coming again personally, visibly, and bodily to reign as Lord.
4. About the Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit is a person, is God, and has all the divine characteristics. He indwells all believers, baptizes and seals them at the moment of salvation. He fills them in response to confession of sin and surrender to Him.
5. About Salvation: We believe that Jesus, through His death on the cross, provided salvation for all. However, to receive salvation one must repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ alone. The true believer is eternally secure and cannot lose his salvation. He may, however, lose his joy by sin and bring the loving discipline of the Father upon himself. All who have received Christ will at death depart to be with Christ in their spirits and at Christ's return receive a new body, which will be like His glorious body.
Understand that our sin separates us from God.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23
Know that salvation is a gift of God, which must be accepted.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
Believe that God raised Jesus from the grave, and claim Him as Lord.
"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,'
and believe in your heart that God raised him from
the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
The love of God and the salvation of Jesus Christ cannot be bought or earned. It is a gift that must be accepted in faith. Confess your sinfulness, ask God's forgiveness, believe the truth of Jesus' resurrection and claim Him as your Lord and Savior. Salvation and eternal life can be found only through faith in Jesus Christ.
6. Baptism: We believe baptism is commanded by God and shows others the commitment of a believer to accept and follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe that baptism is by immersion (placed fully under water) to symbolize the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that baptism should take place after a person admits that he/she is a sinner, believes that Jesus took on their sin at the cross, confesses Jesus as Savior and seeks to follow Him as Lord of their life. We encourage you to talk to one of our pastors if you have questions or need more information.
Who Should Be Baptized
Christians believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when a person places his or her faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his or her sin. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are ready to be baptized. Just like a bride and groom show others their love for one another by wearing wedding bands, your baptism is your opportunity to show others that you have accepted Christ and are now walking with Him.
What Baptism Symbolizes
Baptism is a way of showing others that you have entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It symbolizes what took place in your heart at the time of salvation: 1) Accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 2) Shared in His death and resurrection, illustrated by going under the water (dead to your old life), then rising again (new life). 3) Were symbolically washed clean, and sins were forgiven by His death on the cross. Because Jesus instructed us to be baptized, baptism is an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God. We immerse at FBC Wildwood because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.
