SERVE TRIP: North Carolina

Location: 
Fayetteville, NC

Housing:
We’ll be staying in Fayetteville NC - serving a local church
who hosts various ministries  in the area.

Meals:
Our ministry will provide food for all meals.
(as with all VERTICAL trips, students will make your own breakfast and pack their lunch each day and we will ALL work together to make a meal together most nights.)

Weather:
Currently predictions are:  HIGH 90s during the day, 70 at night

Cost
We ask each student to donate $100 for each trip (and we cover all other costs from the generous donations from our church members). 

Remember:
*.   those students who have served at our Fellowship Meals or Yard Sale have that amount fulfilled
**   scholarships are available to cover other students
*** we ALWAYS accept donations (make checks payable to First Baptist or simply bring cash the day we depart for us to use to purchase groceries ,etc)

Sunday
9am        Doors Open to CMC (put your stuff on the lobby)
noon.       Load trailer after worship
1pm        Depart for North Carolina
8pm.       Arrive in Fayetteville / Unload /Dinner
9pm         Orientation

Monday
8am        Breakfast Check In
8:30am  Departure
9am         Morning Chapel
10:15 to noon 
Warehouse assistance
1pm          Lunch Break
2:00 to 5:00pm. 
Help to clean, sort and place products on the floor at our Community Store 
6pm          Dinner
7pm          Dessert on the Deck
9pm          Evening Round Up

Tuesday 
​8am        Breakfast Check In
8:30am  Departure
9:00 to 11:00 Men's Shelter Projects
Cut grass, clean up front flower beds, etc.
11:15 to 1:00  
​** Serve our guest lunch at Fayetteville Cares 
1pm Lunch
1:30-3pm Clean up trash at Fayetteville Cares 
5pm.    Tour: Village Baptist Church
6pm      Meal/Worship Village Baptist (Raeford Campus)
9pm.     Evening Round Up

9am          Pick up food items from our DC Warehouse and stock our Food Pantry
10:30am Paint bathroom /deep clean at DC warehouse
Noon.        Wash portable shower unit.

7pm           Dessert on the Deck
9pm          Evening Round Up

8am        Breakfast Check In
8:30am  Departure
9am         Final Projects/Mtgs
5pm          Dinner
6pm          Depart
6:30pm   Evening Worship Service

9am        Clean up host home
10am      Depart for Florida 



WHAT TO PACK

FOR THE VAN RIDE:

> Comfy clothes for 7-8 hours in a vehicle

> Backpack with...
- Sunglasses 
- Headphones or earbuds (for the sound of traffic overnight)*
- Music
- Back up Battery/recharger
- Snacks for the road (you can pick some up from the CMC until noon)
- $ if you need to get something when we stop for gas 

> A Pillow (make it fluffy so you can sleep with the bumpy roads)

For the Trailer:

> A Suitcase or bag with appropriate clothes for the week
We’ll be serving (nothing big or dirty), sitting with church people (to hear their stories), staying in a home together and working hard in hot conditions.

Remember our boundaries:
- no short shorts, skirts or shirts
- no inappropriate logos or icons
- bathing suits: straps, not strings  in case we find a pool!
- bring at least one pair of closed toed shoes/socks for serving (sneakers, not crocs)
- shower supplies, etc
- boys, bring an air mattress or get one at church (cause...you know)

You CAN bring spending $ for the trip for extra snacks or “touristy” items.
